Vocabulary & Structures What colour is it? C’est de quelle couleur? C’est... It’s... Teacher Notes
Task One You are presenting the colours in French for the first time to the group. As the flower petals change to different colours, say each colour in French slowly. Ask the pupils to repeat after you as a group. Then when each word appears, say the colours again and ask the pupils to repeat as they read at the same time. Teacher Notes
Task Two You are now giving the pupils more practice of the vocabulary you have introduced. As the flower changes colour, say what the colour is for them again in French and ask them to repeat as a group again. After the pupils have repeated a colour, on the next mouse click the label for that particular colour will fade. Ask individual pupils to tell you which colour has just faded and introduce the question C’est de quelle couleur? and ask them to answer with C’est... Teacher Notes
Task Three You will now run through the new vocabulary for a third time. Each of the labels will be highlighted as the flower changes colour. Do this as group repetition again. Group repetition is important as pupils who might be shy saying some of the words to the class will not mind joining in as part of a group. If you run through the presentation again at a later stage with the same group, this task could be done by individual pupils who feel confident enough to say all of the words from memory. Teacher Notes
Task Four The flower will now turn multi-coloured. The labels will stay on screen but the colour coded stickers will all turn white. This task is designed to see if the pupils can match the colours to the words from memory. A wasp (une guêpe) will fly onto different coloured petals one by one. Each time ask the pupils which colour petal the wasp has landed on. When one pupil has given a correct answer, click the mouse and the label sticker will turn to that colour. The order of colours the wasp flies to is rouge / gris / jaune / marron / violet / vert / orange / bleu / noir / rose / blanc. Teacher Notes
Task Five The flower is now on the screen with all the colour labels. You can use this slide as a visual aid while the pupils complete some more tasks either in the same lesson or next time. This could be pairwork to practise the colours or a worksheet with reading and writing activities. Click the button one more time if you want the labels to disappear. This could be used to test the pupils or you could make use of an interactive board to do some spelling practice. Teacher Notes
