Social Entrepreneurship and Societal Transformation: Social entrepreneurs are focused on social problems in different ways to: emphasize social entrepreneurship as innovating for social impact. have consequences for social problems, often with relatively little attention to economic viability by ordinary business criteria (e.g., Dees, 1998). create innovative initiatives, build new social arrangements, and mobilize resources in response to those problems rather than market criteria. catalyze social transformations well beyond solutions to the initial problems. create small changes in the short term that reverberate through existing systems to catalyze large changes in the longer term (Ashoka Innovators, 2000). understand not only immediate problems but also the larger social system and its interdependencies, so they can introduce new paradigms at critical leverage points that lead to cascades of mutually reinforcing changes in social arrangements. achieve sustainable social transformations include the innovations for social impacts and the concern for mobilizing resources that characterize the first two perspectives—and they lead to shifts in the societal context within which the original problem is embedded and sustained. Emnet International Public Health (15 sp) Public health work is: society’s organized effort to maintain, improve, promote and reduce risk factors in the population’s health, both locally and globally. to reduce health inequalities through work on equity, accessibility and quality of services. to intervene directly towards factors that contribute to better health and factors that might represent a health risk. concerned with an increase in disease rates, long term conditions and lifestyle illnesses expected in the future as a consequence of demographic changes and a result of people’s health behavior. having competence in inter-professional collaboration in both public and private sectors are crucial when meeting challenges.
