1 MikS WP1/WP2 Planned work from SINTEF

3 Water adsorption for filler sands – pilot testing
Proposed by Ola 2 fine sands samples ( mm) – samples to be obtained based on results from Rolands' PhD work – Highest and lowest water adsorption profile according to the traditional method 2 tests proposed: Desicator setup with range of RH% Water adsorption based on EN (no. 9) Only water adsorption will be measured, not density.

4 Desicator setup 3 desicators with RH% between 90 – 99 (using salt solutions) Procedure:  Dry samples at 105°C till constant value Take 2 samples from each type ~100 g? Spread out sample in glass dish (or vanndampdiffusjonskopp) with diameter ca mm Samples are placed over the salt solution that provides the lowest RF level Samples are weighed daily for one week to find a constant weight (equilibrium with the RH level) Moved to the next two RH levels, and the procedure to find the weight in equilibrium with RF repeated

5 Rheology (viscosity) measurements of pore solution
Proposed: 3 fillers tested in Rolands PhD studies (most interesting results) - Anorthosite, quartizite and Limestone 1 SP: SXN and another – dosages: 0, 0.2 and 1%bwoc Total: 18 samples (2 measurements each set) Can perform with cement in sample too (for further work later).

6 Rheology (viscosity) measurements of pore solution
Using capillary viscometer - measure kinematics viscosity Procedures: Preparation of pastes Centrifuge of sample to obtain supernatant Filter of supernatant through schott glass 2 to 4 Measurement using capillary viscometer (3~4 reads each)

7 Expected cost Desicator samples ~30k NOK (depending on time at which equilibrium is achieved) Water adsorption samples ~10k NOK Viscosity measurements of pore solutions for 18 samples ~ 60k NOK
