Historikk Startet med et eksperiment på 1960 tallet, I USA’s forsvarsdepartement Web’en består av: PC nettleser (browser) forbindelse til internett leverandør ISP servere ruter som dirigerer trafikken på nettet The Internet is a global network of networks enabling computers of all kinds to directly and transparently communicate and share services throughout much of the world. Because the Internet is an enormously valuable, enabling capability for so many people and organizations, it also constitutes a shared global resource of information, knowledge, and means of collaboration, and cooperation among countless diverse communities. It is a global collection of networks, both big and small, that connect together in many different ways to form the single entity that we know as "the Internet." However, just because nobody owns the Internet, it doesn't mean it is not monitored and maintained in different ways. The Internet Society, a non-profit group established in 1992, oversees the formation of the policies and protocols that define how we use and interact with the Internet. They correspond to a series of numbers (called Internet Protocol numbers or IP addresses) that serve as routing addresses on the Internet. Domain names are used generally as a convenient way of locating information and reaching others on the Internet. They are called Uniform Resource Locators (URL's) -- Short for Hypertext Transfer Protocol, this indicates a hypertext document or directory. www. -- This indicates a page on the World Wide Web. (Sometimes "www" is missing.) ianmayer.com/ -- Called the domain name, it often tells you the name of a company, university, or organization.
